There will be a vocab quiz every for every unit. Students are given a list at the start of the unit and expected to study the spelling and definition of each word. Students must use the word correctly in a sentence for full credit. 

At the end of each unit there will be a Unit Test that will cover all material taught. This will cover analysis of craft and structure, use of vocabulary and constructed response based on unit's writing focus.

There will be a minimum of 4-5 selection tests per unit which will be based on the text read, discussed, and analyzed. 

Tests/Quizzes= 50%

Homework= 5%

Projects/Essays = 30%

Classwork = 15%

Any student who receives a 60% or lower may retake the test. Student must come see the teacher during office hours to schedule retake. You must allow at least 24 hours for a retake. It's important that you review your first test and study the material to know where you went wrong. The highest score will be inputted into the grade book. Only one retake is allowed. 

Attendance is vital to the success of each student. You miss SO much when you're not here and we miss you! If you can not attend class, it is your responsibility to bring a note from your parent excusing your absence. More than 10  unexcused absences may result in truancy and denial of credit for this class. 

Tardy?

Coming to class late shows you are unprepared and disrupting your fellow classmates. You need to be in your seat prior to the bell rings and working on your warm up. Failure to do so, results in a tardy.
